Welshmen = Britain's teddy bears
Dec. 5th, 2008 09:36 pmShow me there's a reason
For your wanting me to die
You're far too keen on where and how
But not so hot on why
I've had this song stuck in my brain all day. It's a good song and all, I'm just saying it might be a little epic for shopping clementines (and by the way, clementines are the best thing about winter amirite? Oh vitamin C, you were never lovelier).
Exam writing is trundling along in a satisfactory way. Today I had the meeting with my class counselor. I felt I'd totally screwed up my argument diagrams and gotten it all wrong, so I had been mentally bracing myself for days - then he told me my paper was among the top three in class. I think it's becoming obvious that if I feel I'm failing = I'm doing great.
So since I did my daily 500 words on the Vysotsky paper today (and finding myself reading Mongolia Today of all things), I've been unwinding with some good old-fashioned YouTube surfing.
I stumbled across the adorable Carter de Haven short Character Studies from 1927. It works so well because there's multiple jumpcuts, not just one every time they change the actors. I know the sensible thing would be to fawn over Rudolph Valentino's appearance (in knickerbockers even), but I was much more excited about Douglas Fairbanks (what is it with goatees?). And a certain skinny comedian, of course.
And for something completely different, I've been immensely enjoying listening to Rob Brydon singing Tom Jones songs. I had absolutely no idea he has such a voice! Insert clichéd claim about Welshmen here.
I would buy an album, that's all I'm saying.
