"Don't be afraid of having a good time."
Don McLean's own words at the concert I just attended. Talk about hitting the nail on the head nationality-wise. It's like, man, don't feel bad; You're not going to get Norwegians sitting in their numbered seats at concert hall to let loose. We love you, we're just built this way.
It's hardly a stereotype, it's just true: Norwegians at concerts only let go because of uncommon amounts of enthusiasm, alcohol or both.
Broadly speaking.
Anyway, I had a nice time at the concert. Due to Eyfjallajökull we got a treat that haven't been experienced in some twenty years: Don McLean sans backup band. What a sporty guy! You can say what you will about that tiny little man with the combover, he wrote the American Pie album and he's a real professional, better show some respect.
I've spent these last few days being all touristy in Bergen with Dad and (his partner) Kari. I love discovering new things about this city.
