Ah Comic Con
Jul. 28th, 2010 01:16 pmI tend to dig into it each year on the net even though I usually only recognize about two percent of the Big Business names.
I enjoy looking at the cosplay (both the good and bad - oh how I love the bad!), and I love being smitten with the geeky excitement (people have been snapping a trillion photos of Captain America's shield and going "NNGH I WANT TO LICK IT" and my cynicism about Cap seem to disappear. A little.) Sure we have an annual comic con in Norway too, but epic storytelling in comics aren't big business in Norway, comic strips are. It's just not the same.
But of course it also shows just what a big faker I am. Like when people were geeking out over Ryan Reynolds reciting the Green Lantern oath. While the video was loading I thought, "Hey, I've read the oath about three times in my life! I bet I remember it! Let's see...
In brightest day and blackest night
No evil shall escape my sight
I wish I may, I wish I might
Get the wish I wish tonight
...Oh wait."
