The joy of low tech
Sep. 23rd, 2010 05:07 pmHaha! I got a letter from my sponsor child Jaria today! It's a reply to a letter I sent her, what, back in February? There was snow on the ground back then anyway. Makes you realize how spoiled we've become with instant messages, when a physical letter takes months and months to travel from Norway to the Unguja island, Tanzania.
I've communicated with her mother before (Jaria's eleven), but this is the first word I've had directly from her. She's a smart girl with a love for science. I'm so glad I decided to do this.
I'd forgotten how much I love writing and receiving actual, proper letters. If suddenly all webmails would stop working it would be a very inconvenient, exasperating joy.
