Man, I can't believe I forgot Garak! Garak is completely awesome. To continue with TNG parallels, I consider him something like a successor to Q, in that you've got an unpredictable, morally ambiguous character - portrayed by an actor who's not afraid to go for certain... character dynamics, until the writers eventually got uncomfortable and put in a female love interest.

Somebody mentioned how in that scene, you couldn't really describe what it is that makes Garak intimidating without coming across as a bit paranoid. I love that.

Also Gul Dukat. I should totally have mentioned Gul Dukat in the previous entry as well. (Though I'm hoping some day I'll stop being so conscious of how his name literally means "yellow ducat" in Norwegian.)

I hear that Cardassians overall are storymaking gold in this show. I can see that, even though my initial understanding of them is that they're some sort of Space Nazis. Or Space Germans, in any case.

Haaa, this seems to happen every time I check out a new TV series.

ODO. IS. FATHER MULCAHY. OH MY GOD.

That is, René Auberjonois played both Constable Odo on Deep Space 9 and Father Mulcahy on M*A*S*H. I never would have guessed in a million years! And not because of the prostethics I mean (heck, I've seen DS9-era Auberjonois without the makeup and that didn't clue me in) but those are two such completely polar performances!

So yeah, apparently I'm never going to be able to wrap my head around the fact that actors are allowed to play several characters, and those characters can be fundamentally different. Gee.
