Extreme, rad and all that
Mar. 21st, 2013 01:58 pmSo I finally finished reading the abysmal Extreme Justice comics. It took eighteen issues to make DC take to their senses and cancel it, but it felt like a lot more.
I've read terribly nineties comics before, but not THIS nineties: terrible, skritchy art, every character gritting their teeth like they're constipated beyond belief, or screaming at each other like WWE wrestlers...

And the plot was... what was it even about? Captain Atom's angst, really, and he wasn't even an interesting character back when DeMatteis wrote him. Oh and the honest-to-God Wonder Twins joined the line-up towards the end. (I was completely unaware of the Super Friends cartoons before this year, odd that. I remember there being no shortage of older Hanna-Barbera cartoons on TV when I was young, but no Super Friends). Oh and Booster Gold amputated his arm, but then it came back.
Quality comic, to be sure.
But this means my chronological Booster Gold-reading has finally reached Super Buddies! (Again, I didn't realize the title was a dig at Super Friends until somebody told me.) Back to the carefree Justice League International comedy! Of course, they're out of print so I'll have to wait a while to scrape together the money. Meanwhile I'm reading Justice League Europe - no Booster or Beetle, but Elongated Man!
