Saturday night at the movies, who cares what picture you see

I'm so glad I finally decided to watch Road to Bali after not having watched any of the Road to... movies for several years. I'd forgotten how completely I love them - witty banter, good songs, popcultural jokes of the fifties, Bing's voice, Bob's comedy, Dorothy Lamour's curves attitude...

Bali is magnificently camp too - the morale of the story is pretty much "gay marriage causes volcano eruptions". SO THAT'S WHY. In one of the final scenes Bing and Bob destroy a village by kissing. So beautifully ridiculous.

Oh oh and Dean Martin cameo out of bloody nowhere! And Jane Russell! I watched Gentlemen prefer blondes for the first time a couple of nights ago and my God, WHERE has Jane Russell been all my life? ♥

Oh man, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes was part of my childhood. Mom even gave me the middle name Lorelei after Monroe's character. (She wanted it to be my first name, but my idiot father vetoed it.)
