This always happens.

In my day-to-day life, Kaizers Orchestra is just a band I like. They're one of many bands I enjoy, I listen to the albums now and again, wear the T-shirt occasionally. Then I attend a concert and spend an hour and a half with my arms in the air and a huge grin on my face shouting "Halleluja!" each time The Jackal tells me to. And then I always spend a couple of weeks being all KAIZER KAIZER KAIZER after.

Thus the Sunday treat will be slightly affected by this.

[Error: unknown template video]

ATTENTION TINY, WE HAVE EXCEEDINGLY AWKWARD GEIR DANCING AT 02:37 AND ONWARD. (Man, 2003 was a long time ago. Lion King was playing bass and Terje was a slightly chubby ginger.)

And from MÄnefestivalen (I usually hate shaky camera phone, but it's different when I can go EEE I WAS THERE):

[Error: unknown template video]

I never noticed Geir doing his fab little pose there at 0:26, did you Tiny?

Also, THEY HAVE PULLED DOWN MY FAVOURITE KAIZER VIDEO ON YOUTUBE. They have pulled down the good 'Mann mot mann' performance that is the sexiest, slashiest Kaizer video ever. That video where Janove complains about having a sore arm after that thing he was doing in Geir's room the other night? NOT AS SLASHY AS THAT 'MANN MOT MANN' PERFORMANCE.

So in mild protest against Viacom harshing my squee I'll post slashy pics.

Why if it isn't my computer background!

Old school trouser peeks, how we miss thee.

UR OPRESSIN MAI JANNO/TERJE SHIP

Not actually slashy, just YAY AWESOME AUTHOR and the fact that Janno's "and I'll tell you another interesting thing" expression continues to crack me up.

Including pic just for oh no you di'int WTFactor:

I don't know. FROSTED TIPS WHAT.

No, no wait. I can do better WTF pics than that.

THIS IS HOW YOU DO WTF:

Aaand now I'll stop because my Kaizer folder holds 366 image files and I'm posting all this for an audience of... two.

RPS: Still not something I'm entirely comfortable with, but I'll be damned if that's going to stop me having fun.

I like their sound. I think I may have to look into owning some of their musics.

You are so good to me, Tilly :D I love you, sis!

Tell me; did Janno smack the roadie's ass in the Romeo & Juliet vidoe?!? At 1:02?

I never noticed that before! Weeeell. I call lower back, if only to keep our OTPile from growing even larger.

I think I'm coming out of my RPS-anxiety on the other side of "what the hell!"

Sigh. I don't know anymore.

Anyway, what an awesome, funky, folky rock sound. I like it.

"What the hell!" - Exactly. When you try not to be obnoxious about it, no one gets hurt. Except me, who gets squicked every now and again. Dunno.

When Kaizers Orchestra first made it big years ago the Norwegian newspapers tried to describe their sound as "heavy ompa", but as their influenced by so many genres - including country (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_NQOQWqHdY) and hip hop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T03a9YtNnVM#t=2m28s) - they stopped trying to pigeonhole it. But they're obviously mostly influenced by folk, yes, especially balkan folk.

[torrent of trivia end]

That wasn't a torrent, just necessary information in a field I am not familiar in! I'm in a band myself, which is, I don't know how to describe it, hard to categorize. So this is interesting to me. (If you're interested, there are some songs here, I particularly recommend Lothar, Spotlight, and Put Up With Correction, but that's just my taste.)

In my particular pairing, the intrigue of the meta aspects was far more compelling then my squick level; you've probably seen me talk about it, but it's Shatner/Nimoy and the layers compounded by the whole Kirk/Spock thing and 40 years of friendship and constant public touching were too much for me. It will be interesting to see if this leads me further astray--I've never been down on rps writers, but I've just never ventured there.

If I recall correctly that happens somewhere in Geir's (now thankfully retitled) VD Week documentary (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC30r3glsuU) :D
