Aug. 20th, 2005 04:22 pmOh, I almost forgot; This week I made a discovery of biblical proportions!
I actually found a guy (male even), my own age and in my same area, that ... (are you ready?) likes to read! Not only that, but one that likes to read all the right books. This, m'ladies and gentlemen, has never happened before in my life. Completely unsurpassed.
He's actually the acquiantance of an acquaintance, and went to my school - I remember I was impressed that his russ-suit* bore his name in Sindarin (which nobody could ever remember - but then I could never remember my own Sindarin name: Dagorven or Authwen in case you were wondering).
It happened that I saw he was carrying a copy of Neverwhere, so I mentioned it and we discussed Neil Gaiman, then we talked about Terry Pratchett, before he mentioned his love for Douglas Adams - by this point I was shellshocked. It was the first time in my life I've stood face to face with another fan, discussing adaptions, the original TV series and quoting Adams-isms at eachother. Then we chatted some more about The Lord of the rings and men in dresses.
Has the world changed and nobody told me?
* Russ-suit: Er, special coloured clothing worn by Norwegian graduating students. It's hard to describe. I recommend you read the article I wrote about the matter years ago.
